Tonight, I wandered downtown Macon during its Christmas Lights Extravaganza. Jolly music spilled down the sidewalks, horse-drawn carriages trotted the streets, and a million Christmas lights danced in the sky.
I was taken back to the California desert, to a time I spent the last moments of the year with friends in relative solitude, this time, with stars strewn across the night sky.
Although the ways we celebrate may vary from person to person, place to place, or from time to time, what remains constant is the spirit that ties us together.
