Welcome to Macon!
In March 2019, I was awarded a grant through the Community Foundation of Central Georgia to design and install two murals at the Middle Georgia Regional Airport with the help of more than 40 high school students. Over two days the students toured the airport with the director and discussed airport operations and its impact on the local economy. I taught them the ins and outs of designing and installing a mural as well as how we can all invest in our community through art. The students assisted in painting the 224-square-foot mural that would be the first and last thing all airport visitors would see when departing from or arriving at Macon.
The design focused on bright, cheerful colors that would make visitors excited to be visiting and quickly established how Macon’s public art is important to the community.
If you’re traveling through the Middle Georgia Regional Airport, take a pic with the mural and tag me using #mamahawkdraws!
