Tuesday, December 1st, 6–8pm
Join 478 Creatives for a special holiday edition of Insider's Studio, our intimate, behind-the-scenes series exploring the homes and creative spaces of the people who make Macon such an interesting place to live.
This time, we're stepping inside the historic Neel House, a stunning Tudor Revival home designed by renowned architect Neel Reid in 1910. Once home to the Federated Garden Clubs of Macon, the house has welcomed countless community gatherings over the decades. But now, thanks to owners Sheila (She) and Doug Keene, it's a home again.
Both Georgia Tech engineers, She and Doug took on the enormous task of restoring the historic property, doing much of the work themselves. Their thoughtful renovation earned them a 2025 Historic Macon Preservation Award, and they'll be sharing the challenges, discoveries, and unexpected surprises that came with bringing this Macon landmark back to life.
While many locals may remember attending an event at the old Garden Club house, this isn't your typical house tour. We'll venture into spaces not normally open to the public, hear the stories behind the renovation, and get a special peek inside She's beautiful working art studio.
An artist and the creative force behind Redefining She, She creates bold, empowering artwork celebrating the often-overlooked stories of women throughout history. We'll get to see where that creative magic happens!
And because it's the holiday season, expect the house to be decked out in all its festive glory. Think historic charm, holiday cheer, and plenty of inspiration.
