Encouraging students to continue learning at home
From the cotton candy clouds to the bunting and scalloped roofs, I just love all the whimsical details in my mural at Sonny Carter Elementary School. I was tasked to create an inviting area at the school’s entrance where students could showcase work they completed at home. The school wanted a way to encourage students to take their “Leader in Me” learnings and share with others how they implement them at home. While working, we enjoyed having the young students walk by and hear their comments like, “That’s REAL art!”, “Good job painting!”, “Whoa. Whoa. Whoa.” It was a great self-esteem boost and gave me a good chuckle!
