Tonight, I set up camp with my friends on the desert ground, with the nearby Sierra Nevadas reaching up toward twinkling stars that seemed even closer. This quiet moment was the perfect precursor to tomorrow’s New Year’s Eve activities. Pensive reflection would give way to energized celebration.
I’m reminded of home in Macon, a place abundant with the spirit of celebration. It feels comforting to know that my friends and family back home will be doing the same thing I am – celebrating ideas, dreams, the past, and the future.
